It's been over a year since Jon or I have posted in this tiny little blog of ours, and my what a year it's been. It would have been around this time last year that Jon started applying for jobs, and it was September (the day after our half marathon, actually) that Jon drove to Virginia for an interview. By October, he got the job and we had 3 weeks to find a place to live (via the internet and my very lovely family who lived a heck of a lot closer to VA than we did), quit our jobs, and pack our apartment up. We were 'homeless' for a week after we moved from MA and visited his parents and my parents on our road trip to our new state. Jon started his job after Thanksgiving, and by the time that the new year rang in, I was still unemployed. I guess that's what happens when you decide you want to change job fields. By the end of the month, I started applying to retail positions and ended up working at -where else?- a running store.
Things got really crazy in the weeks leading up to our wedding in May and our running became one of the last things on our to-do lists. After the wedding was over, frankly we just enjoyed the downtime and worked on getting our house decorated up a little bit since it was not a priority before then. And more recently, I'd been working two jobs - the running store and as a photo editor. As much as I loved the running store, I finally decided that it was too much to do both and will now be photo editing as my sole job. I have learned so much from the running store and plan to post about my experiences, as well as some product reviews.
Now we're finally getting to the point that we have the time to run once again. We'll both be working from home most of the time, leaving us more time to spend doing other things (like running!). I really can't wait to get back into training (well once this heat wave is over). Our next big race plan is for the Disney Marathon Weekend (Jon's first full and my third half!) in January.
I promise to post a race report of the Rock n Roll Philly Half as soon as I get a chance!
